My Purpose
Why are you on this planet? What are you designed to accomplish in your life? You may have asked yourself these important and difficult questions. If so you are not the first one and you are not alone!
As living creatures, we have fundamental biological needs. As human beings we also have fundamental emotional needs. The most important ones are probably safety, love, aliveness, belonging and knowledge passing. Our bodies and mind constantly, consciously or unconsciously, strive to meet these needs. That’s their purpose.
This module is about something else. It is about your unique purpose. The unique expression of your strengths, values, experiences and knowledge to serve others.
Your purpose is your North Star. It gives you direction and guides all your important decisions. Navigators who used the North Star to guide their journeys never reached it. Likewise your purpose is not an objective to be met, it is aspirational. It does not make your path perfectly clear or without challenges either.
Your purpose helps prioritise your thoughts and actions and find focus. Before we do this in the following modules, let’s identify your purpose!
Activity #1 - Start with why
Activity #2 - 3 Visualisations
First, listen to the following 3 guided visualisations.
For each visualisation, take notes of what you saw or did and what makes this important to you.
Finally, considering your notes above
What patterns or common themes can you recognise, if any?
What did you learn about yourself?
Activity #3 - My epitaph
Clarify what you want to be remembered for.
Answer the question: What would you like your epitaph to say?
An epitaph is the inscription on tombstones. Take your time. You can skip if this is too uncomfortable.
